sooooo, silly title I know, but I’ve been trying to change a few things around here – here as in real-life here as opposed to blog here – and one of the first things I did was, weirdly, change our toilette rolls buying habits. Maybe you’re interested and maybe you’re not, and if you are and have ideas for me do come forward, don’t be shy!
As a family of five we go through quite a lot of toilette paper and for the past three or four months I’ve using this company ‘Who gives a crap’ and it feels good to do.
Literally.
The company was crowd funded in 2012, set up by three young chaps who saw a way to build a business and help people, in fact they donate 50% of their profit to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world, “we love toilet paper because for us, it’s our way of making a difference. We started Who Gives A Crap when we learnt that 2.3 billion people across the world don’t have access to a toilet. That’s roughly 40% of the global population and means that around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That’s almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes.”
They sell 100% recycled toilet rolls, bamboo toilet paper, tissues and paper towels, these last two made with a blend of bamboo and sugar cane. None of their products use inks, perfumes or dyes.
And they’re funny.
And all the packaging is recyclable.
